Product Description
APR is pleased to present the ultimate engine control unit (ECU) upgrade for the 3.0 TFSI!
APR’s ECU Upgrades are the best dollar-per-horsepower modification one can make to the 3.0T engine. The upgrades dramatically increase horsepower and torque, making for an exceptionally quicker and more exciting vehicle. This is made possible through APR’s optimization of the factory engine management system to take full advantage of the engine’s capabilities, without needing any end user adjustment. The software loads to the factory ECU through the OBD-II port, resulting in a clean and headache-free install. Furthermore, for those looking for tuning with a limited powertrain warranty, APR Plus has you covered!
APR ECU Upgrade Stages
APR’s ECU Upgrades are available in multiple stages, supporting various octanes both with or without any hardware modifications. Specific software is available for use with APR’s Supercharger Drive and Crank Pulley upgrades, as well as APR’s Ultracharger Throttle Body upgrade, while all stages are fully compatible with an upgraded APR Intake System, exhaust systems, APR Supercharger Cooling System or other minor bolt on modifications.
APR Plus ECU Upgrade with a Limited Powertrain Warranty
The APR Plus ECU Upgrade is the first step towards making more power, and it includes our limited powertrain warranty. This simple upgrade requires no engine hardware modifications, and produces 433 HP with 364 FT-LBS of torque. Gains as high as 52 HP and 42 FT-LBS of torque are available throughout the power band, making the vehicle exceptionally quicker in all scenarios.
The APR Plus ECU Upgrade matches the performance of our Stage 1 ECU Upgrade (91 octane version). To get even more power, you can add any of our other Stage 1 compatible products and still be covered under the APR Plus warranty! To learn more about APR Plus, please visit the APR Plus website.
If you’re not interested in the APR Plus limited powertrain warranty, and want even more power, check out our other Stages.
APR Stage I ECU Upgrade
The APR Stage I ECU Upgrade is the first step towards making more power! This simple upgrade requires no engine hardware modifications, and produces 433-465 HP with 364-385 FT-LBS of torque. Gains as high as 52-79 HP and 42-65 FT-LBS of torque are available throughout the power band, making the vehicle exceptionally quicker in all scenarios. To get more power, the vehicle can be outfitted with an upgraded APR Intake System, exhaust systems, APR Supercharger Cooling System and other small modifications without requiring any new modification to the ECU.
For the next step in incresed power, APR Stage II ECU Upgrade is available for use with APR’s Supercharger Drive and Crank Pulley upgrades.
Please note, transmission software is required to achieve power figures past the factory redline.
APR Stage II ECU Upgrade
The APR Stage II ECU Upgrade is the next step towards making more power. This stage is designed for use with a pulley upgrade that spins the supercharger faster, such as an APR Supercharger Drive Pulley upgrade, APR Supercharger Crank Pulley, or upgrading both units simultaneously. At least one pulley upgrade is required to run this software. This stage is compatible with an upgraded APR Intake System, exhaust systems, APR Supercharger Cooling System and other small modifications, all without requiring any further modification to the ECU.
With APR’s Supercharger Drive Pulley upgrade, the engine produces 448-481 HP with 381-406 FT-LBS of torque. Gains as high as 71-101 HP and 58-82 FT-LBS of torque are available throughout the power band. If using APR’s Supercharger Crank Pulley upgrade instead, the power and torque figures grow slightly higher.
When using both APR’s Supercharger Drive and Crank Pulley upgrades together, the engine produces 445-527 HP and 415-471 FT-LBS of torque. Gains as high as 73-150 HP and 87-140 FT-LBS are available throughout the power band. For those looking for even more power, the APR Stage II+ Ultra ECU Upgrade is available for use with APR’s Ultracharger Throttle Body, unlocking the full potential of the factory supercharger system!
An APR Supercharger Cooling System is highly recommended and may be required to meet the advertised power figures, especially when running both pulley upgrades. Please note, transmission software is required to achieve power figures past the factory redline.
APR Stage II+ Ultra ECU Upgrade
Representing the ultimate upgrade for the 3.0 TFSI, APR’s Stage II+ Ultracharger Software is for use with the APR’s Ultracharger Throttle Body and APR’s Supercharger Drive and Crank Pulley upgrades. This stage is compatible with an upgraded APR Intake System, exhaust systems, APR Supercharger Cooling System, and other small modifications, all without requiring any further modification to the ECU.
The system produces an astonishing 478-541 HP with 429-475 FT-LBS of torque. Gains as high as 99-160 HP and 96-144 FT-LBS of torque are available throughout the power band. The software was designed for use with the Ultracharger’s included NGK Iridium IX BKR9EIX spark plugs and an upgraded APR Supercharger Cooling System. IAT’s must be below 75c to achieve the advertised power figures. An APR Intake System is highly recommended and required to meet the advertised power figures. Finally, at these power levels, APR does not recommend use of the factory catalyst. Please note, transmission software is required to achieve power figures past the factory redline.
APR World Class Calibration Expertise
-Tuning 101:
The 3.0T engine uses a Continental Simos 8 ECU for engine management. Basically, it’s a computer that tells the engine how to operate. Tuning software, like the APR ECU Upgrade, tells the engine how to make more power. It does this by running more boost pressure, optimizing the cam shaft positions, adjusting the air/fuel ratio, advancing ignition timing, and more.
-A Better Engine Management System:
The 3.0T’s ECU is incredible. Without the driver knowing otherwise, the ECU makes intelligent adjustments to the engine’s operations to keep it running smoothly. Unlike ECUs found in many other makes and models, when properly tuned, the ECU eliminates the need for custom tuning to maximize output, even when weather conditions change dramatically.
-How APR Differs from the Competition:
The ECU is powerful, but extremely difficult to master. Without mastery, the ECU must be simplified, removing what makes it so desirable. The result is an incomplete product that often requires end user adjustment to maximize output in limited scenarios. On the contrary, APR’s Engineers spent years mastering the ECU to unlock its full potential. With complete access to the thousands of maps, tables and variables within, as well as a high-level understanding of how it works, APR’s Engineers were able to take advantage of everything the ECU has to offer. Power is maximized in nearly all scenarios, eliminating the need for end user adjustments. High performance operational modes are enabled and calibrated to deliver smooth daily driving, with a snappy and responsive throttle during moments of spirited driving. Lastly advanced high-output protection routines are enabled, allowing the ECU to make constant adjustments to airflow and fuel to cool and protect the engine, all without the driver knowing otherwise.
